Death of the Reader
In the case of Murder Ahoy this is explicit. The Doom Box has been used by the murderer to plan his killings, so Marple does the same. Being sure to isolate herself, she shows the book to all suspects, luring the reader to their doom.
But you'd think they'd know better. Having read the book, wouldn't the murderer know their own end? Perhaps they are sleepwalking through their own plot.
